Stage I - Stripping The Shell

PICTURE GALLERY

I purchased the 1994 Golf GL in April '06.
The car was entirely stock with some standard
old age issues (re: surface rust on hatch,
trashed interior) but the shell was sound. It
had some high mileage (280k) but was well
maintained and everything that is worn out will
be replaced anyways. The best part was this
car was a base model. No ABS, sunroof, AC
and with manual windows and rear disk brakes
 - which is almost unheard of with late model cars.

The first step was to strip the interior out of the car. Nothing was saved except for the dash and the e-brake handle which will be modified to function as a hydraulic handbrake.

The next step was to remove the dash and wiring. What a mess that is.

Now the real fun of any build begins... the removal of the tar, sound deadening and other gunk installed by the factory.

Once the shell was completely stripped, Stage II - Shell Reinforcement could begin.
